Playtime in Sanannah

We decided to get away for a long weekend to Savannah and Jekyll Island. We spent the day touring around Savannah and enjoying the sites - trees with Spanish moss, old cars, historic buildings. It was fantastic weather to be out and about.

We loved the fountains and benches.
And then headed off to Jekyll Island. I have never been able to bike on the beach but what an incredible feeling. The tide goes in and out several times a day there which keeps the sand packed allowing you to ride for miles and miles - what a blast!!

They call it driftwod beach - I think you can guess why

We spent an afternoon a the center where they rescue sea turtles. A good reminder to be careful when using motorized equipment in the ocean

Dinner out at the restaurant onsite was delicious and we just about had the place to ourselves.

We went exploring some of the old chapels and gardens around the town.
Went on a horse drawn carriage ride - You can guess who's idea that was!
We then tried to get a picture of us on a oak tree branch. It seemed much better in my head than how it really worked out but I think these turned out pretty funny.

Someone came over and offered to take it for us. I think the first ones were more hilarious!

The grounds were amazing and great places to sit, chat and just be together.

We tried our hand California Croquet. It was just a great time to get away!!
