Puerto Rico 2012

Puerto Rico
Well after living in a "furnished" apartment for 7 weeks with all our stuff in a POD we were ready to get away and to let our lease go. The furnishings weren't so posh to say the least and we saw at least 2 people being led away in handcuffs - Time to move on. Since our lease was up Thanksgiving week we didn't want to crash on anyone's Thanksgiving so we first went to Atlanta to look for a place to live and then to Puerto Rico. It was a great place to spend the week and nice to be a bit pampered before Adam headed back for his last days at Garmin. The weather was wonderful with sun every morning and rain in the afternoon with huge puffy clouds after the rain.

This was in the afternoon.....

....evening....

....and night - dinner at the hotel.

The next morning this is what we woke up to - Not too bad at all, we loved it actually!!

Christmas decorations were already out at the hotel. Complete with feathery trees.

82 degrees almost all day long made for wonderful night time swims.
visiting the
The weather also allowed for some fascinating trips to the old city. We loved the colors and the fort that really appeared untouched after all these years. (http://www.nps.gov/saju/index.htm)

Adam standing on one of the safer precipices. Great views from every angle!

 So many colors and fountains!

Our last full day did not disappoint with all of the beach being drenched in sunshine, wonderful sunshine!
We spent Thanksgiving at a local tapas bar. We had so many things to be thankful for; our house selling, Adams job and school opportunity in Atlanta, Family, friends and the creation we were surrounded by. It was such a blessing to be able to enjoy! We were thankful for Puerto Rico and hope to go back again! (soon?)

More Fall and Moving 2012

Shortly after my parents left this is what the house looked like...the mess before the organization. Well somewhat of organization before packing away. We were not sure at this point where we were going so we were putting everything in a POD for the time being.
Adam took the GRE and here was our crew to celebrate (he did a great job on the GRE) at Blanc Burgers - a KC favorite!

Differences in our appearance as we went to tackle the attic. You can see Adam hates the attic. We were worried there might be a raccoon up there but we were glad our findings were very boring! We felt after this the house was ready for inspections......

For Adam's birthday we went to a restaurant we had been wanting to check out and it did not disappoint (http://www.urbantablekc.com/).
Delicious dessert even to take home! My Mom adopted Adam's I Phone 4s so he was able to get the new I Phone 5 as soon as it came out. It was delivered to our house on his birthday!
We took time out of packing for an afternoon at the symphony.....

......and at the batting cages. We used a groupon so the outing was suppose to be an inexpensive as possible  but in a stroke of genius I placed my gum on top of the coin machine since I could not fine a trash can. Adam's hands had been blistering so we borrowed batting gloves from the nice kid running the place who had warned us not to mess up the gloves since he just bought them that day. I said of course we wouldn't as what could mess up batting gloves, well gum of course.  It ended up being one of the more expensive outings as we payed the kids for the damage but we got a new pair of gloves out of it!

Moving weekend was also one of our friends the Stag's baby shower. I was able to make it in the morning before we moved. Great to see friends that we hadn't seen in weeks since we had switched churches.

Going home we were finishing packing up and our wonderful friends the Johnsons were back to help!

It was a warm September day but the packing went quickly with our extra hands from Craigslist. There was minor drama when we realized the cap we brought for the fridge water line was leaking into the basement but we were able to clean that up with the help of the Johnsons, again.

We then just had to wait. The close date was moved from Monday to Tuesday and then everyday moved just a day later. We were sweating by the end of the week but when we closed on Friday it was time to celebrate again!

Bye to 928!

Back to Blanc Burgers to celebrate!
Adam's last concert with the Civic Orchestra. We are hoping to find an outlet for him to play the next place we go!
And we didn't have to wait too long after selling the house to find out where we would go next. We learned that Adam not only got accepted to Georgia Tech but had been offered full tuition and a stipend for his work as a graduate research assistant! He will be working on a project doing research on atmospheric entry of spacecraft. If you want a better explanation then we will have to get him to write about it! Of course since we love to eat it was out to eat again at one of our favorite restaurant splurges - The American. The desserts were well worth taking a picture of!

A delightful way to celebrate a new city and a new job/school!

Fall in Kansas City

It was a warm and lovely Fall in Kansas City! Great time to watch the Royals and the White Sox play~the extra innings this time were almost record breaking but we stayed to the end:-)

We took a mini anniversary/summer/fun trip to a ranch outside of Lawrence (http://www.circlesranch.com/). It was a great getaway with a nice sheep and a great horse back ride. You know your husband loves you when he goes on horseback rides even though he's terrified of the animal!

Wild buffalo and Adam...
After dinner trails to explore...

....and a great sunset made for a really relaxing vacation weekend!

More White Sox games....
....tennis playing....

....trying to ballet dance.....

....and a visit from Mom and Dad Schroeder to start off the fall!

We had just gotten an offer on the house 10 days after switching realtors and were and to start packing a little while my parents were visiting. We did not know what we were going to do next but we were excited to let someone else take care of the house for sure.

More lovely days in KC. This Fall was absolutely gorgeous and we spent quite a bit of time outdoors!

Enjoyed coffee with Al and Fran while Mom and Dad were here....

...and then made a trip to the original Oklahoma Joes B-Bque place.

It was a long wait but well worth it! Best fries ever!

We took a long walk at Lake Lenexa. For those still in Kansas we highly recommend this for a day of hiking or biking. (http://www.lenexa.com/parks/pdfs/black_hoof_brochure.pdf)

Mom's trendy pose - Love it!

For various reasons we began attending a different Church this year. We were able to snap a photo after Church while the folks were here.
Thanks for a great visit Mom and Dad!
